French insurance and civil liability laws (different from those in most countries), require that you maintain your own property and liability insurance for your own person and others in your party against any accident or injury that may occur while renting the premises.

Many homeowner's insurance policies include "off premises" personal property and liability insurance. Check your existing coverage with your insurance agent to determine if you're covered for foreign rentals. Otherwise you should obtain short-term insurance through a specialized policy. Provider recommendations are available upon request.
